A busy surgery but all the staff are efficient and courteous. A recent refit in the downstairs waiting area brings a splash of colour and more space to wait in. There is a free car park on site which can fill quickly but there is often on street parking available too.
I've always been seen on the same day. Helpful staff and great doctors and nurse

Not sure this is the best place to share your experience, the NHS site is more accurate. I joined the Thornhill surgery a year ago as Bitterne was absolutely dire. Yes they can take time to answer the phone here but that aside the admin care I have received there is about as good as you can expect across the country at the moment. Plus side is the doctors and nurses actually listen and act on your concerns. Downside is the lack of privacy at reception which needs redesigning.
Lowford Centre, Portsmouth Rd, Bursledon, Southampton SO31 8ES, UK – 023 8040 4671
I have recently moved to the area and joined this surgery. I have been a couple of times already and the service has been so great. The staff on the desk, phone and the doctor have been sensitive, helpful and so friendly which isn't always easy to do in this line of work. The job they do is stretched as we all know nowadays but the way they have been with me has not reflected the current climate. Thank you :)
Whilst the facilities are a lot better than the old converted bungalow on Bursledon Road, unless you pay a personal visit or register online, getting an appointment through the phone system is a nightmare - there are too many menu items and you can only book appointments over the phone after a certain time. With only one GP now, much of the workload is triaged to the practice nurses who all do a stellar job. Another upside to the new location is parking - the old site was very limited, but the new location shares a large car park with the community centre. The surgery is on the first floor which is accessible by wide stairs or a lift. There is a self check in screen at the top of the stairs, which I use all the time. You can register with the Patient Access website to book appointments and renew prescriptions, but you will have to get a letter from the surgery first which will provide some log on details.
