Dental Surgeries

The Dental Group

6 Brookvale Rd, Southampton SO17 1QL, UK – 023 8055 6449

Fantastic! Having had terrible teeth since I was 13 years old I can’t describe how happy I am with my beautiful new veneers. The team here are fabulous made me feel comfortable and relaxed the whole time. Wonderful experience! Do I recommend them? Oh yes I absolutely do

The Dental Group is AMAZING! I was referred to The Dental Group by a friend who had veneers. I loved her amazing white smile I had to have what she had. I met Jeffery O’Carroll he is a gentleman and very friendly. He ran me through the procedures for veneers and answered all of my questions. My veneers were done in a day. That was the best day of my life. I will never look back. Thank you Jeff and The Dental Group.

Always professional and friendly!

Inspired Dentistry

1-2 Cerne Cl, West End, Southampton SO18 3NG, UK – 023 8032 8888

ALL the staff at Inspired Dentistry do their utmost to make you feel comfortable from the moment you step through the doors. The receptionists are welcoming; the dental nurses are reassuring; the hygienists are as gentle as they can be and the dentists are thorough but happy to work things through with you if you are terrified, as I am. I no longer HATE going to the dentist. gill - terrified patient (who is more relaxed now)

Inspired is a perfect description. I am a very, very reluctant and nervous patient but wow, this surgrey certainly deserves 5 stars. Initially recommended by friends, but with living in Nottinghamshire it seemed a long way to go for dental care. How glad Am I that I decided to try it. Have now been 3 times to repair a broken tooth. Undergone surgery to remove the tooth remains, had a plug fitted and have now have a temporary implant and awaiting the next stage. I can't thank all the wonderful staff enough. I now have my smile back. Thank you

Weston Lane Surgery

Weston Ln, Southampton SO19 9GH, UK – 023 8044 9913

Very friendly and helpful staff - reception, nurses and doctors. Generally able to book a routine appointment within 2-3 weeks with a chosen doctor - sooner if happy to see anyone usually. Urgent appointments are often available same day if calling in the morning and never had trouble even when calling after 9am to get a time to be seen - may have to wait at the surgery awhile though! 4 stars due to occasional delays/long wait on urgent appointments when being told to arrive at a certain time.

Ladies Walk Practice

90 Thornhill Park Rd, Southampton SO18 5TS, UK – 023 8046 2492

Not sure this is the best place to share your experience, the NHS site is more accurate. I joined the Thornhill surgery a year ago as Bitterne was absolutely dire. Yes they can take time to answer the phone here but that aside the admin care I have received there is about as good as you can expect across the country at the moment. Plus side is the doctors and nurses actually listen and act on your concerns. Downside is the lack of privacy at reception which needs redesigning.

Southampton NHS Treatment Centre

Level C, Royal South Hants Hospital, Brintons Terrace, Southampton SO14 0YG, UK – 0333 200 1820

Consultation available over Christmas but as so often with the NHS, different advice offered from each service we were sent to.

I received fantastic service from the staff and felt the hospital was clean and neat.

Local hospitals - community hospitals and hospitals with A&E departments for SO19 6FH.

The new NHS website below is very well worth a look. Hospitals are not only listed but evaluated. I certainly know which ones I would go to! At the very least you will know what questions to ask if you are sent to one which has not entered its data. Good luck!

James Huntley & Sons Ltd

Unit 4, Ashley Cres, Southampton SO19 9NA, UK – 023 8044 7300

Very polite helpful gentlemen work at Huntleys.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Southampton

COVE Bar & Restaurant, Southampton

Bldg Shamrock Quay, William St, Southampton SO14 5QL, UK – 023 8023 4777

Nice atmosphere, service very slow indeed, even for olives in a relatively empty restaurant. Pleasant staff. Lunchtime menu very limited and uninspiring. From the sounds of things the evening menu would have been a much better option.

Amazing food and great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and went above and beyond. They also have a fab wine list ;) Would definitely recommend a visit!

Pizza Express

31 Oxford St, Southampton SO14 3DJ, UK – 023 8049 9090

Fabulous place with excellent vegan and gluten free options. The staff are friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend enough

Excellent other than the fowl language coming from some northerners and there where kids around too, not acceptable really!

25 Oxford St, Southampton SO14 3DJ, UK – 023 8022 6181

Staff were lovely, food was great....extremley nosey but it was a Saturday evening. Would deffinatly use again but felt it was just a little pricey

Visiting a Prezzo always raised your expectations from the brand regardless of the fact where it is located. And that's what I love about them. This branch is no different. Located in nice cosy area, easy to find parking, courteous team and most importantly The Prezzo flavour. Highly recommended. Although, the shop is not very spacious but rest assured that you won't regret The Prezzo visit. (Makes me sound like their brand ambassador -lol.)

Nursery and Preschools

Paint Pots Pre-school & Nursery Ltd

1 Spring Cres, Southampton SO17 2FZ, UK – 023 8032 2197

Nicest staff I have ever met at any nursery, both my children were very sad to leave here when we moved. Would highly recommend

Paint Pots Day Nursery

400 Bursledon Rd, Southampton SO19 8NG, UK – 023 8040 4334

Primary and Secondary Schools

Bitterne Park School, Southampton

Bitterne Park School, Dimond Rd, Southampton SO18 1BU, UK – 023 8032 5200

School is decent, currently year 11. Some teachers are amazing and do everything they can to help when you ask for it! Whereas some don't care at all. The school prides itself on its 5 core values -Relationships Achievement Community Enjoyment and Respect - they say the pupils voted them in but when asked a huge amount of my year group jokingly wrote down other things. Again, there is a vast amount of bullying with the school only starting to tackle it a few years ago after a lot of pupils commited or tried to commit suicide - the school at times is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING but at times can be a complete joke.

Some teachers are nice others aren’t and this school does have vast problems with bullying like any other school in the country . As a Year 7 student this school isn’t great and they don’t do anything for what they call “fall outs” . A lot of swearing goes on and at the moment this school isn’t its best- it’s ok but I wouldn’t recommend this school if your child has been bullied or has learning difficulties. Children in learning support do get a noticeably large amount of attention and get to completely skip lessons when they feel like it but overall this school is ok.

Bitterne Manor Primary School

Quayside Rd, Southampton SO18 1DP, UK – 023 8022 7596

They taught me everything i know!! I'll miss all of u teachers when u go to secondary

Fabulous school. A village school in the City. Enthusiastic teachers, interesting projects - may of them based on the locality. Great playground with different areas including a buddy bench for a child to sit on if they are lonely - for someone else to join them. The children are taught to watch out for each other and show respect. Highly recommended.

Hightown Primary School

Tunstall Rd, Southampton SO19 6AA, UK – 023 8040 3536

The best teacher ever was Mr Johnson

was a brilliant school left in 2012 moss it already

Public & Preparatory Schools

St Mary's Independent School

57 Midanbury Ln, Southampton SO18 4DJ, UK – 023 8067 1267

My daughter has continued to flourish since joining in St Mary's last September. She is academically challenged to learn and research. She participates in many activities. She loves her art and music most. This is a very small and caring school and this is the reason we chose here and we are not disappointed. The management team are very hands on. They resolve matters very quickly and keep parents informed. I also want to mention our bus driver is very agreeable and the school lunch is tasty with generous portion. My daughter has enjoyed going to school every day and made good friends. Thank you St Mary.

A school where EVERY child matters and is given the opportunity to thrive regardless of ability. Offering small class sizes & exceptional teaching staff who genuinely care about each of their pupils academic and emotional wellbeing equally. I have two children currently at St Mary's, in Prep and Senior departments, their Father being a past pupil also. Truly the only way to experience the uniqueness of this school is to visit and see for yourself.
